Business Development Manager

Trade Link International Ltd, established in 1993, is a global freight forwarder and logistics services company based in Burlington Ontario. We are in growth mode and have begun our search for a Business Development candidate to grow our footprint.  We simplify transportation management for our clients handling all their day-to-day movement of cargo as well as crucial tasks so they can focus on what they do best.  We work with a multitude of carriers to enable choices for our client base.  Whether it be ocean, air , road or RORO we offer a wide range of cost effective, customized,  services. 

Position Overview:

The successful candidate will be a seasoned individual in the freight forwarding arena.  Having worked for 5+ years they will have solid well-established client relationships.  This position will be working on a consistent basis with an inside support person as well as our Operations Team to communicate solutions and Implementation required for client support.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: educating their customer base to the offerings of Trade Link , face to face visits, strategy recommendation, client supply chain efficiency recommendations  and service level requirements including costing and quoting .  This position will report directly to the VP of Sales

Essential Job Functions:

  • Manage and report on pipeline of sales opportunities
  • Collaborate with solutions and sourcing to customize a solution.
  • Meet with clients to explain value proposition and discuss customized solution
  • Meet with Ops and Management Team to review opportunities
  • Manage the follow-up and feedback loop for all opportunities
  • Initiate and maintain all sales info in our CRM system
  • Develop meeting cadence with sales to develop more opportunities
  • Cold calling and internal leads to development of new clients

Characteristics & Requirements:

  • 5+ years of Transportation Industry sales experience
  • Proven experience meeting with clients at multiple levels and building strong relationships
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated with self-learner mentality
  • Strong ability to build and maintain interpersonal relationships
  • Works well with our Operations Team and Management
  • Committed to raising the bar in the area of customer service and personal production
  • Proven leader who is successful at multi-tasking
  • Proven success in the areas of internal and external customer service and communication
  • Knowledge of industry terminology, methods and procedures
  • Experience in pricing, carrier sales and operations a plus
